I want to live in Leamington Spa

I live 30 minutes away and I just really like Leamington Spa. It's pricey though. I used to work there right on top of the parade on Clarendon St/Rd? and it's got a really nice town center with plenty of shopping and the big three level georgian houses are fantastic.

anyone live near/in Leamington?

Your bathroom window, DC, I'm a bit fruity like that

NDP double your mortgage payments without any rise in income?

Our new mortgage came after dh had a new job with bigger salary and theoretically we should have more disposable income, but it doesn't seem to have worked out that way. I suppose bigger mortgage = bigger house and bigger house = higher running costs.

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:49

we've had 1 measly viewing in 2 months. We even have a huge poster advert in the window of our estate agents currently and it's doing bugger all for us.

Yes, LM. To be fair DH's income has risen (more than doubled) since we bought this house, but we've just been enjoying having the extra cash

Lonelymum · 11/11/2005 12:50

Could you grow some trees in your garden between you and the cement works?

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 12:51

We've had 3 and one offer (which was upped twice but was still too low).

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:52

depressing isn't it.

Yeah, although like I say, it has given us more chance to really appreciate what the hike in mortgage will buy us and whether or not it is an affordable deal. Turns out, not so much.

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:54

of course the chicken wire around the perimeter, the barking, drooling pitbull at the gate, the boarded up windows, stained mattress on the walk and the car up on blocks probably doesn't help either....

I like my house but it isn't big enough and nor is it in my ideal location. That said, it is in a well thought of neighbourhood and has 4 double beds, so it's a great family house.

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 12:55

cheeky

I'll have you know that I've managed to get some pills for the drooling, so now I'm just a 'barking pitbull'. That's progress, at least

Feistybird · 11/11/2005 12:56

It can be violent at night though DC - some lovely bars and restaurants, but so many that it's really busy most nights.

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:56

down girl! DOWN!

Shock

Rugby schools are better than Leamington aren't they and the train to London is quicker

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 12:58

The trains thing is only a plus point if you actually need to get to London on the train regularly !

Must go and check that DD isn't wrecking the place. It has gone ominously quiet.

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 13:00

hope i didn't scare her away with my rudeness.

anyway. yes, Rugby is a great commuter town and you can get to London in about 45 mins so London is actually a feasable option.

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 13:01

S'ok, her Daddy is much ruder.

zippitippitoes · 11/11/2005 13:01

Leamington is prettier, they are probably both equally rough..very chav in Leamington

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 13:02

Leamington.. Chav? Really?

I prefer Stratford, although the tourists would get on my tits

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 13:03

Yeah, Stratford is very nice and I really like it around christmas when they've got all the lights on the trees around the river.

I once had a shag in the Stratford Moat House car park, classy, eh ? That brought the house prices down.

ssd · 11/11/2005 13:05

Hi, thought I'd join in as my sister lives near to L/Spa and I used to live there too.I'm originally from Glasgow and missed the people up here. But L/Spa is a really nice town, I know people who live near the park (at the top of Leamington, it's got a golf course) and it is quite expensive. What about trying Warwick Gates near Whitnash,Daddycool? Still expensive compared to Scotland but maybe better for you?

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 13:05

sorry, TMI
