I want to live in Leamington Spa

I live 30 minutes away and I just really like Leamington Spa. It's pricey though. I used to work there right on top of the parade on Clarendon St/Rd? and it's got a really nice town center with plenty of shopping and the big three level georgian houses are fantastic.

anyone live near/in Leamington?

Go through the knicker drawer and the secret drawer... ROFL

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:29

Cool! Avalon, you're from Rugby as well! where!?

OP posts:
DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:29

You see, you can stay now that you've found a friend

Avalon · 11/11/2005 12:31

Off Bilton Road.

Just checked out the window and now the leaves are falling off the trees, I can see the whole thing.
Think the Council must have done some tree felling in the wrong spot!

Have you read about the kind of people who live in leamington apparently

Acorn 14s and the average pay per week is £485.00

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:34

£485 per week my arse.

I'm in town, nr. Caldecotte Park.

Well you kow DC that I used to live in Rugby and I also liked Leamington Spa better. If we had carried on living in that area, we would have moved to LS by now I am sure. But it must be ever so expensive compared with Rugby. Good luck with it!

zippitippitoes · 11/11/2005 12:35

Did you think that pay was a lot or a little? I thought it was a lot lol

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 12:36

apparently my ACORN rating is 10. No idea what that means

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:38

a little. there's no way you could afford anything decent in LS without a joint income of about 50K each.

OP posts:
DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:39

50 + 50 x 2.75 = 275K. you'd be lucky even with that.

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 12:40

DC, you'd be entitled to more than that on £100k take home.

Lonelymum · 11/11/2005 12:40

Aw DC I think you are spoilt. doesn't Rugby have a big cinema complex these days? Thee was nothing like that there in my day. I day out was going to the paddling pool outside the leisure centre!

Out of interest, where (roughly) do you work?

Lonelymum · 11/11/2005 12:41

you can get bigger mortgages than that these days DC. We recently got one 4 times dh's salary.

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:41

LOL! paddling pool outside leisure centre has been filled in with concrete because of safety issues!

Yes, big cinema complex and town is improving slowly.

I work in the Swift Valley Ind Estate, Nr. Holiday Inn Express (the old bell and barge, now a harvester)

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 12:42

We've a mortgage offer for the same, Lonelymum.

Avalon · 11/11/2005 12:43

DC - I didn't know that! When was it done?

Lonelymum · 11/11/2005 12:43

NDP: it is tough making the repayments!

DC is that on the road up to the M6?

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:43

don't know but it's now fountains... which are never open due to safety issues as well LOL! ooohh, what's the world coming to?!

OP posts:
DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:44

LonelyMum - Yes.

NomDePlume · 11/11/2005 12:46

LM, I know, we've recently budgeted for the move. OUr mortgage repayments will double . Not so sure we're going to move now. Might have to hang fire for another 12 months.

DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:47

I don't care what anyone says, the prices are coming down. We're going to have to sell for cheaper if we want to go to Canada this year. It looks like we'll just have to take the risk.

OP posts:
DaddyCool · 11/11/2005 12:48

NDP's goal is to move to a house that not only has a view of the Rug cement works but a nice clear view of my back windows as well

maybe not.

Things are plateauing here in the housing market but there are very, very few buyers around at the mo. Our contract with the Estate Agent expires in a few weeks so I reckon we'll be cancelling it and staying here for a bit longer.
