Should we change her name....

No, not her much debated first name!
When we were deciding what to call dd ds really, really wanted her to be called Edie. In the end we went for a totally different firstname, with Frances as her middle name (it's my middle name and my grandmother's name). But we told ds that she could have Edie as a middle name as he was so upset, but never officially called her Baby Edie Frances Surname. But dd is now nine months old and Ds still tells everyone that she has four names - Baby EDIE Frances Surname. And he is very proud of it. I feel racked with guilt that we didn't give her the name and think it is so sweet that ds really wanted to help name her (he loves her very much).
Dh thinks I am insane. But then he thought that ds would forget all about the name business in a matter of weeks!).
What do you think? Am I mad and should just leave it, or get the form and add another middle name?

getagrip I couldn't give a flying fart what you think and shall continue to post however I like. At least I have the 'courage of my convictions' and consistently post under my own name unlike you who can't keep the same name for 5 minutes.

Whatsamatter? Scared we might find out who you are? Get a grip.

Leave it, go on as you are, and let Edie be her special family name (or even your ds's special name for her). When she is old enough she can decide what she wants to do. I have never been called by my 'given' name, and at about age 4 or 5 asked why it was that drs etc called me by a different name to the one I always used. Long and irrelevant story. Anyway, I decided to add the name I am called by to my own name just before I graduated from uni, and since then, whenever applying for a new document eg passport, have used both names. But I'm still called by the name I always used and never by my original name.

My aunt (mum's sister) is known only to my parents, my siblings and my dh by her family pet-name. Everyone else uses her proper name, even her parents. It's a certain special loving intimacy that we share.
