I am due to go to visit my parents today for the weekend. I live in London and they live just outside of Liverpool.

The thing is my youngest son (3) is not well. He is asleep on the sofa at the moment. He just seems to have a temperature and got himself into a right state this morning - refusing to take his medicine, get dressed etc - just moaned all morning.

He will be staying at home with his daddy and older brother while I am away.

Would you still go? I havnt seen my parents for a few months now and havnt seen my dad since he had an op back then, so I really want to go and see them but I am feeling very guilty about leaving him when he is ill. I know he will be ok with dad but I am still worrying!

Can't you take him with you?

JenumGeranium · 11/11/2005 10:20

Thanks for replying!

Not really as my dad is still getting over a big op I think it would be too much for him (my dad that is).

I will be travelling by train and I dont think he would be up for it really.

I've left my unwell children with their dad when I have had pre-arranged things to do. I always feel guilty which I'm sure you will, but he is their dad.

moondog · 11/11/2005 10:22

Well,do you trust dh with him??

Bomper · 11/11/2005 10:22

I would go. I am sure he will be fine with his daddy. Sometimes I think we worry about things more than they do.

sansouci · 11/11/2005 10:24

It would be good for your relationship with dh to show him that you trust his ability as a parent. You do, don't you?

JenumGeranium · 11/11/2005 10:25

Thank you!

Yeah of course I trust dh! I just would feel awful if he was to be really ill and I was so far away!

You are right - I am sure he will be fine with his daddy and I am worrying too much!

If I was to stay at home with him, guaranteed he would be running around like a loon and would be absolutely fine!

Is it possible for you to go tomorrow instead?

That way you can spend today and tonight with DS but still have your weekend with your parents. Just get up early tomorrow morning - you can still be with them by 11-12ish!

JenumGeranium · 11/11/2005 10:27

That would be a good idea but I have my train ticket booked for today! I dont think I can change it.

oh, go on, jenmumgeranium! if something should go wrong (unlikely), you can always come home!

JenumGeranium · 11/11/2005 10:45

ok I will go! And as you say, I can always come home if anything did happen!

Plus its not like the dark ages - mum and dad do own a telephone and a computer, so I can chat to dh either way!
