Please tell me that Algernon is a name to protect his identity from us!!! If not, then she is probably too ashamed of herself to talk to anyone!!!

Oooh, just read rest of thread

skinnycow · 11/11/2005 09:35

at my ds's new school the mummies are generally quite snooty and aloof but a couple have said hi and one or two have even introduced themselves but being a bit like Stepford everyone has the same hair/nails/dresses in the seasons colours they all look pretty much the same to me and I cant remember who's said hi. One woman told me her name was Jane and she was Poppy's mum - trouble is I cant remember which one she was!

I agree that ignoring a friendly overture is rudeness not shyness. However shy you are you can always smile and say hello, it won't kill you

northerner · 11/11/2005 09:38

Lol Binkie - How can someone not be prepared for someone saying hello to them?

Rude IMO Cod. It's common courtesy to at least acknowledge someone when they greet you. LOL at wearing stirup pants.

Cod - if she had been wearing stirrup pants would you have continued a conversation with her? or told her to go home and get changed?

flamesparrow · 11/11/2005 09:39

I'm scared of all people, but you do still get a half smile half "help I'm terrified" response from me - you can tell I'm just plain scared rather than snotty!

binkie · 11/11/2005 09:40

well, you know, something on her mind, maybe. Anyway, we both tried again & now we're friends.

think you should try again later at picking up time cod. Force the woman to speak to you.

I did this once with my now MIL. We went to the same hairdressers (she was trying to be trnedy not be trying to be old lady). Anyway she openly hated me at hte time so I said "hello" at the basins regardless and she blanked me, so next time our paths crossed (think I was having a shameful perm or something) in the salon I said "hello" again - again she blanked me then it turned into a battle of wits between us and I won! Ha! then I used to blank her when I saw her out.

Donbean · 11/11/2005 09:44

It looks too small for what i have in mind.

flamesparrow · 11/11/2005 09:44

Oooh, I wonder if she's sat reading all this thinking "No, I'm not shy, you parped at my thread 17 days ago so I'm not speakin to you"
