have stockpiled my 10wk olds newborn clothes etc and although i know i could pass them on/sell them/donate them to a charity shop, i have a burning desire to send them to a charity that will use them directly eg: charities that send clothes to eastern european orphanges etc. have searched internet for such charities but no luck. anyone had any experience of this?

I honestly think that it makes much more economic sense for a charity shop to sell them here, then use the money elsewhere. I suspect the cost of sorting, packing and shipping and distributing would be absolutely uneconomic.
But someone else may prove me wrong.

I agree with Aloha. Most charities say strongly 'please give us money'. You might find Women's Aid was different, though; you need to find organisations that work specifically with new babies in situations where those babies need clothes, and in the UK.

Is it worth trying your nearest maternity unit if it's sleepsuits/vests etc?

I saw this on one Romanian orphanage site:

£7 a week
Is the cost of a week's food for a homeless child rescued from the streets and sewers, making a fresh start in our refuge for former street children.

If they could sell your clothes for £7 or more this is what it can provide in Romania.
