How did you safety proof your kitchen?

DD 9mo and continously opening doors & draws etc etc....of course i have moved everything harmful (bleach etc!!!) to top cupboards but i am worried about her trapping her fingers....i don't want to spend lots of money i can't afford making my kitchen "safe" only to find the products i have bought are a waste of money!! please post any products that haved proved to be very useful in your home so I can make nessecary purchases tomorrow....tia

if you hsve upboardhandles u can use string to tie them closed etc

Or elastic bands if they are the handels are right width apart!

also once they have squeezed their fingers a few times im sure it helps them to learn!

only prob is our kitchen/hallway/dining room/ utility is v open plan, so a baby gate wouldn't really work although that would be the best option.

Agree nannyL.
My 9 month old spends ages entertaining himself taking things out of cupboards and exploring every nook and cranny of the kitchen. It's all part of his learning.
Like you I've put sharp and dangerous things higher up out of his way, but otherwise I'd much rather have him happy exploring than crying at the stair gate because he wants to come in.

Plastic catches on the bottom cupboard doors and a stairgate across the door for when I was cooking.

i have just looked at the handles nannyl and i think i can get the string thing to work! huraah - wil have a go at this 2moro and see how we get on!
