Anyone else drowning under a sea of washing due to awful weather?

Tumble dryer is stuffed at back of garage that is full to brim so until dh gets his act together and gets it out I have to rely on radiators, racks and the odd spell of dry weather.

I am literally drowning with washing. Anyone else like me this week?

The FIRST thing I'd do is get out of this flat. And when I left, I'd buzz the bloke nextdoor, but in the other 'stair'. When he picked up, I'd tell him, 'You're an a*&ehole and your music SUX! I hope the bass on every stereo you own blows out.'

Then I'd buy a house with a . . . utility room.

Ah, the wonders in there! A built in ironing board that I might actually use. A separate dryer that was big and ran off gas.

A built in pulley for delicates.

A Belfast sink for handwashing.

Maybe even a DAB or TV in there.

Expat - god I wish I could have those too!

We had awful neighbours under us that constantly copmplained with the slighest tap the kids made. I gave her such a smug look as we loaded our stuff onto removal van

iota · 03/11/2005 22:28

edxpat -- I've never seen a utility room that big !

expatinscotland · 03/11/2005 22:30

MrsSpoon · 03/11/2005 22:30

expatinscotland · 03/11/2005 22:31

my cool house

iota · 03/11/2005 22:32

very nice (and you link din't work but I fixed it)

expatinscotland · 03/11/2005 22:32

Energy efficient as well, and built from recycled materials. Gotta love those Norwegians!

MrsSpoon · 03/11/2005 23:08

Not a fan of new builds but could make an exception for one of those, they look fab.

No space for tumble dryer our last one we kept in the shed and ran an extension lead from house to kitchen unfortunately it packed up and over summer decided to knock down shed as it was right were the sun is all day.

not read the whole thread ladies but my washing does dry in the garden (not today actually). Got my sheets dry earlier this week on the line also a load of baby whites.
I have a tumble dryer but feel guilty about using it because it's not very green, is it now?
Also lots of the kids clothes say do not tumble dry and can't be fagged to go through them all and look.
Yes, it is a pain on a wet day, house like a chinese laundry. The only solution is to keep on top of the ironing!

no need for tumble drier here sorry can't help gloating - very rarely do I have trouble getting the clothes dry.

WHen we lived in the UK - the rental house we had had a washer dryer and whilst it was usable - it was pretty abboying - having to halve the load after washing to get it dry and then having everything all creased from the heat..... painful at times.

yes, no tumble drier so radiators are draped in the stuff. windows are all steamed up!

slapheadsrock · 04/11/2005 11:04

I have three laundry bins full following decorating daughters bedroom in half term - never again!!
Suppose I should do some instead of sitting here......
Toyed with the idea of bundling it all down to the launderette and picking it up clean, dry, folded.....Mmmm!

Blossomhill · 05/11/2005 10:06

Still drowning here ladies and it all needs to be ironed to.............

Blossomhill · 06/11/2005 11:26

HOORAY dh has finally got the tumble dryer out and I am battling through the washing!

bran · 06/11/2005 12:06

Has anyone ever tried one of these? Does it make any difference to the speed of drying?

OK drowning now! Could have had some washing out today but it was about three in the afternoon before it dawned on me, doh!

cuddlymum · 07/11/2005 14:15

I seem to manage to drown in washing whatever the weather! I have the tumble dryer on at least 3 times a day and in the summer the line is full too! I have a new way to iron... I take my ironing board, iron and ironing to my friends and we chat and watch the new desperate housewives which she gets from the states somehow. It is amazing how much ironing I get done in that time! I hardly notice I am doing it.

expatinscotland · 07/11/2005 14:17

Cuddly, Im SO jealous! That you get to watch the new season of Desperate Housewives, that is. . How does your pal do it? The season started in mid-September there and I have to keep asking my sister for spoilers .

I'm drowning in washing too! Have only got 3 more loads now - but where the heck do you dry it...radiators are loaded. I could stick it out on the line today...but by the time I get it in...it will be dewy!

My aim is to get on top of the washing...so that I can wash what we wear that night and stick it on the radiator. A good idea in theory perhaps!
