Trust - how do you know?

How do you know whether someone is trustworthy?

This person has never given me any reason not to trust them, i just have a little nagging feeling that i shouldnt, maybe i am just paranoid but sometimes he will ask a question and its so unlike him, even the way it is worded (like in a text) and i think 'thats not quite right' or something makes me think 'hang on why are you asking that'

Feels almost like he setting me up for something, i dont know what and its a really strange feeling to have.

I answer his questions because i have nothing to hide and they are totally innocent questions, so why does it feel like somethings not right?

Like i say i have no reason not to trust him, maybe i am just paranoid but do i ignore the feeling and wait and see or do i ask him if he has an ulterier motive and sound like im nuts or wait and see?

I know its a silly question but how can you tell if you can trust someone?

They say trust YOUR first instincts, so if you have doubts.....! Trust is such a big concept! who do you really trust? think of how you feel with them and then compare it to him?

HuggyBear · 03/11/2005 15:32

I dont think i really trust anyone 100% - that sounds so sad doesnt it! but its not, its just who i am.

I feel kinda bad for doubting him but i cant get rid of the 'dont trust him' feelings! But then im not telling him anything i wouldnt tell anyone else, so i dont know why its bothering me, except this text was just worded differently and it was longer whereas it usually is just a few badly spelt words, it just seemed like he was asking on behalf of someone else IYSWIM but then thats probably paranoia on my part cause why would anyone else want to know!

Its strange cause it was just an innocent text but i know it wasnt his words!!! and now i want to know why he would ask on behalf of someone else, why thy would want to know and what the point to it is!!

I think im just wondering over it cause i have homework i should be doing and cant be bothered so its something else to think about! lol

lol, yep the mind does tend to wander when a job needs doing thats not very exciting! perhaps someone else got hold of his phone and used it?? when me n hubby started dating his mate got his pphone one night and started asking some stupid questions, i only clicked about 5 texts in...i went mad!!!

I trust my hubby, mum dad and my little lad (but he's only 5 months lol!) Its not sad at all. trust is so hard to build and so easily broken.

Huggybear, the fact you have doubts, I think is a clear sign you don't trust them 100%.
You should feel at ease with the person , on same wave length and feel you can trurst them.

My grandfather always said "dont trust anyone and you won't go far wrong". In a way he is right as you do learn from your mistakes. But in life you do have to put your trust in people sometimes, but instinct I do believe is a goldern tool with have to sometimes help or guide us.

I agree about instinct and mine says dont trust him - but then the logical part of me says 'well why not?'

Poor bloke was probably asking an innocent question and here i am doubting him on the WWW lol
