I've not done it myself, but I do have a BIT of knowledge - think health is taken into consideration, but does not stop you from doing it, best thing is to get in touch with local Social Services who will send you loads of bumpf.

It is odd that I could have another child naturally if I chose which could or may not worsen my health but would not be able to adopt which health wise would be safer,I thought I had accepted no more children but it keeps coming back to haunt me

Don't know for certain Noddy, but I do know they are less strict these days about who can adopt/foster. My sister and BIL have adopted and are hoping to do so again and they are in their mid 40s. They would never have been considered years ago.

Thta is not to say that they weren't made to jump through a thousand hoops first, but I suppose you would expect that and want that if you have the welfare of the children in mind. It does depend on local authorities though I think.

I think much depends on the area you are from too. There is a programme on about it tonight - Ch4, 9pm I think. Follows three children through the process of adoption. Might give useful nos. at the end.
