Sorry for late response, thank you PonceyMcPonce for suggestions, I like the idea of doing in advance and packing in groovy bags. I just have to make sure it's air tight so I don't end up with messed up popcorn.

I have this popcorn maker

It's great but has a hairy fit (ie melts, burns popcorn and cuts out) if you use it too many times without letting it cool in between.

The microwave bags aren't cheap but work well.

I make popcorn in the microwave in an ordinary brown paper bag with a tiny bit if butter and a pinch of salt

Just twist the end of the bag and micro till popping slows no need for special bags
