Having recentley discovered Ds severe iron deficiency, and hoping that this will improve his near non-existent appetite, that Vitamin B12 can help has anyone else used this or read any articles? My SIL said it took 6mths for her friends little girl to gain an appetite when she was Iron Def'.
Any suggestions greatly received.

That sounds really interesting. I've not heard of a link between appetite & iron before. Would you get iron drops for kids? Would you also in that case need vit C?

I'm interested in hearing more about this too anybody in the know.

Inky,
I only found out when I took him to the doctors because he was hardly eating and biting his nails until they were sore (as I say his only 21/2 well actually no his 2 3/4), and the Doctors sent us up the hospital for a blood test as there is a strong connection between the two due to Iron Deficiency, so when the test came back that he was severly lacking in Iron I felt sick. But my doctor said it becomes a bit of visicous circle as poor iron levels leads to a poor appetite and a poor appetite leads to poor iron levels. He did say that over the coming months that this will all improve. I did have to cut his nails the other day so that is a good sign, I just wish he was eating a little better, but it has only been a month. But as I say I would like to find out about Vit B12.

P.s. Forgot to say that I give him a couple of ready to eat apricts with his Iron syrup, as it keeps him regular (I sound like my Mum) but it also contains iron and vitamin C.
