Do you enter competitions, and have you ever won anything?

When I was younger, and in more of a 'time-rich'/ 'cash poor' stage I used to enter loads of competitions. Used to enjoy ferreting out ones that were probably never going to get many entries - and particularly ones which required slogans/ complete the sentence/ tiebreakers.
Had a few wins: a weekend at a health spa/ really nice fleece, but never the BIG prizes i.e. car or mega holiday.

I don't really have time anymore, and there seem so many websites listing all the latest comps that I figure they must get SO many entries now that it's not worth bothering?

Anyone enter competitions and had any major wins?

Not me, but my neighbours used to win a lot. They got their car, TV and music centre, a holiday to Thailand and lots of small things like T-shirts, CD's etc. It's the tie-breaks that are the difficult bits.

I've won loads of "little" things. A hi fi, CDs, makeover, make-up, free tickets to stuff, personalised postage stamps (no...really!), gift vouchers, a dinner service, champagne and a lot more over the years that I've forgotten. I cannot be bothered with the tie break nonsense - I've not got the time or the inclination to bother

I find the best competitions to enter are the ones where the magazine readership is considerably smaller than mainstream titles - so wedding and baby magazines have always worked for me (not that I buy wedding magazine any more!). Free draws with loads of prizes are guaranteed to come up sooner or later.

Comper - interesting choice of nickname - are you sure you shouldn't be posting in the media/non-members slot - or am I a cynic? If not then hi

Bobsmum -
No - I'm not a media/ non-member 'lurking' ! Actually I'm quite a regular, but felt like changing my name 'cos somehow admitting to being a secret 'comper' seems vaguely embarrassing somehow - don't know why - always felt a bit 'downmarket' really....

(Skulks off the 'Snob' thread....)
