Peter has had 3 transplant calls, none of which were suitable. time ran out, so LVAD is being used. but he needs to recover fully from that and his stroke before he can go on the list again. The average wait is around 6months, but people have been supported on LVADs waiting for transplant for upto 2years.
Not enough people carry donor cards or are registyered and those that are, well the relatives have the last say, if they say no then theorgans wont be used. And also with medical advances being made and more people being saved after serious accidents qwhere before they wouldnt have been able means they is fewwer organs available anyway.
