DS2's First A+E Trip

Such an important milestone!

We were at the park this morning, and DS2 was at the top of a wet slipperly slide. I should have gone up and got him down, but I just encouraged him to sit down and slide down to me. He walked forwards a bit, and then fell onto the slide (not off it, at least!), banging the side of his head on the slide.

There was blood running down the side of his face, from somewhere very near his eye. Lots of swollenness, and one very shaken mum.

I wandered out of the playground, ran into someone I knew, and got offered a lift to the nearest A+E by her friend.

He's got a bit of glue and tape on the cut, which isn't too bad. He didn't hurt his brain, anyway - he was cheerful a few minutes after the fall.

And now I just want to go to bed myself. But the school run and so on awaits ...

It was enormously scary - I was so glad to run into the acquaintance outside the playground, who could have a look at it, and help me decide whether it was a 999 thing, a GP thing, or an A+E thing.

And also very very glad the other woman offered me a lift to A+E.

I was actually sure he was fine, once I calmed down, I just wanted it cleaned up and stitched or whatever, so it would heal nicely.
