Had a close call, I left my straightners on for 2 days (over 48 hrs). They were perched on a cardboard box, and clothes dumped all around. I put a pile of junk mail on them and then thought i better put them away and managed to burn my hand. I am surprised the box didn't catch it wasn't even that hot . What an idiot.

God there must be something going around! The toaster caught fire today in our house: huge flames leaping up the toaster within about 2 inches of my notice board! I had to do the whle smothering with a towel trick. Turned out, ds3 had got a knife with a (fake) bone handle stuck down there and it was the handle going up - but the flame was so big and sudden - very scary! I thought of you Aimsmum!

I remeber vividly when my mum left the pressure cooker on high with mince in it, it blew off the weight and sparayed mince allover the ceiling argh!

Hows the clean up coming Aimismum? If you have wallpaper that is sooty try a loaf of white not too fresh bread, rub it round in circles then cut off a slice and continue, will depend on the paper if it works or wrecks paper.

That was a close one SS.

My DS is four and yesterday, for no apparent reason, he said "if there's a fire you have to get a wet towel and throw in on it". DH and I both said "where did you learn that?" and DS said "Aunty Mabel". (Come Outside).
