There is a pair of New rock boots on eBay from a newbie with 0 feedback. They are 120quid new and her auction is at 60quid, with no bidders. I know we all started with 0 feedback but I am unsure as its a large amount of money. The auction has a pic she has taken on it, and she recommends paypal for payment.

hmm i guess if you pay by paypal then you are insured in case she doesn't send them....

GeorgieVickyLou · 29/10/2005 20:07

When does the aution finish? could you email and ask some questions just to try and get a feel for her .. if you know what i mean..

spooklymieow · 29/10/2005 20:07

Don;'t you only 30 days to claim the money though if she doesn't send them.

well 30 days is plenty isn't it? if you pay as soon as the auction ends then there is no reason for her to take longer than a couple of days to get them to you

spooklymieow · 29/10/2005 20:08

it has just under 2 days left. The other thing she said that makes me wary is she out 'I will let them go for 80 quid' so if she doesn't get the 80 quid she wants will she not send them. there is no reserve on them

well when the auction ends she is legally bound to sell them to you.

if you decide to then pay with paypal and let the seller know that you expect them within a certain time frame.

if they do not arrive then cancel the payment...

poppy101 · 29/10/2005 20:12

I have bidded on a couple of items, don't normally try and spend over £10 on an item.

However you are covered by paypal. But you will then have to chase if they dont turn up.

What is the delivery on them, first class etc ? If you are not sure ask, also make sure they are sent insured or recorded as it is a lot of money.

If you aren't sure dont bid.

spooklymieow · 29/10/2005 20:13

Right, never brought from a newbie before, even though I have a huge feedback myself.

Where is she? If close enough then ask if she will take cash on deliver and meet up to exchange. We did this with a tent and a 1st time ebayer, taking the whole thing apart in S. Mimms service station!! It was the bargain it sounded like and the seller was happy to do it this way.

spooklymieow · 29/10/2005 20:14

she is in sheffield, I'm near london!

I bought of somebody that I just wasn't sure off recently and it put me off high bids on ebay, you just get an inkling from the bidding and from the replies that you get from them.

I always try and query certain products now and if I m not 100% then I dont bid.

spooklymieow · 29/10/2005 20:17

what happened with you Poppy?? I have brought high priced items before (some Fantasy boots, and a few other bits) I am always wary though.

I did ask her if she could put a BIN button on her auction, as I refused to email her and offer the 80quid as I wouldn't be covered then.
