Jen he says you have to spell it with two t's though because he's not a door mat! Fair enough I suppose!

bossykate · 28/10/2005 21:22

tamum, that may well be the case, but since i can only lay claim to irish heritage...

and the offenders i know can't lay claim either to scottish or irish heritage!

Sarahx2005 · 28/10/2005 21:22

My Katherine is Kate or Kat.

Kaz33 · 28/10/2005 21:22

Ive got a Donald Cameron - donald is a family name, 4 generations of donald so wanted to carry it on, because my brother wasn't going to. We call him Cameron or Cam for short, which I love. Slightly regret not putting them the other way round so Cameron Donald, as obviously everyone thinks his name is Donald.

My family is Scottish, though I am first generation english, so also have an execuse.

My niece is Niamh Roisin - which I think is stupid as there is some very very distant irish ancestry and she has a difficult to spell scottish surname. Poor kid is going to have to spell all of her three names

I am going to have to watch 7 brides again arnt I?!

Sarahx2005 · 28/10/2005 21:22

LOL already answered that Compo!

JenumGeranium · 28/10/2005 21:23

Yeah I can understand that Sarah - Matt or Mat?

Hmm - strange how one m can make all that difference!

libbyss · 28/10/2005 21:23

I am often at the receiving end of the titters and smirks but I don't care I love my dc's names - old fashioned but not outrageous. It's all so personal though isn't it one girl's fave name is another ones worst nightmare. My neighbour had a baby girl a few months before me and called her Awen which I really didn't like at all, it just sounds so masculine to me (says she of the ott girls names!)

Sarahx2005 · 28/10/2005 21:23

There was also a Hepzibah in Carrie's War.

JenumGeranium · 28/10/2005 21:24

Blimey - turns out Hepzibah is not that unusual after all!

tegan · 28/10/2005 21:25

not unusual but not my cup of tea

JenumGeranium · 28/10/2005 21:26

I know of a girl called Bronwyn, which I quite like! I know there was a Bronwyn in neighbours. Is it welsh then? or Australian?

nailpolish · 28/10/2005 21:26

dont you mean 'one t' not 'one m' JG?

CBsFriend · 28/10/2005 21:26

Sarah, I don't really think you should be mentioning info such as childrens names from another forum. It would be better if you posted a generalisation such as 'I've heard of the names such and such'. Maybe the members of the other forum don't want their childrens names mentioned elsewhere, or did you ask their permission to?

JenumGeranium · 28/10/2005 21:26

oh no dear god - I would never call a child of mine Hepzibah!

tegan · 28/10/2005 21:26

Yes there was a bronwym in neighbours I think she was lou's daughter

JenumGeranium · 28/10/2005 21:27

Just keeping you on your toes Nailpolish!

hunkerpumpkin · 28/10/2005 21:27

Why does it matter where they've been heard/read CBsFriend?

Sarahx2005 · 28/10/2005 21:28

Good point CB's - sorry. I will do that. I Feel awful now

tegan · 28/10/2005 21:28

we are all semising about friends, neighbours ect so why should it matter if sarah got names from another forum?

JanH · 28/10/2005 21:28

Does Sasha have to be a boy? One of the Chernobyl children who comes here is a girl called Sasha - not a short form, that's her name.

Behind the Name website gives this:

SASHA
Gender: Masculine & Feminine
Usage: Russian
Russian pet form of ALEXANDER or ALEXANDRA

JenumGeranium · 28/10/2005 21:29

Shes not disclosing any other details i.e surnames so I think she should be ok!

Sarahx2005 · 28/10/2005 21:29

Tegan don't worry, it's a fair point. Some people don't like it, although the names are on their profiles and signatures so I can't imagine they will mind too much. I know them both quite well so will have a word with them later x

tegan · 28/10/2005 21:29

I think I will need to go to bed soon

Sarahx2005 · 28/10/2005 21:31

I cant go to bed yet, my daughter is out at a show, she's soooo tired bless her, she didn't want to go tonight. I wanted to go and see her again but we only had tickets for last night. The show finishes around 10.15.
