I just want to say a massive THANK YOU (it's kind of overdue and totally current)

The reason? Ah yes, that would help wouldn't it?

Today I met a lovely couple who booked me to be their Birth and Postnatal Doula. How did they find me? You lot!

I have lost count of the number of Mumsnet babies I've seen into the world. What I do brings me great joy and satisfaction. You are all enabling me to do the thing that I love best.

If any of you are interested in what I'm getting up to Doula-wise these days then you can find me here or here.

If I could I would give each of you that have passed my name/website/details on a huge bunch of flowers/large bottle of that special something you like/chocolate/a manly punch.

In short: THANK YOU!

Don't listen to Mars. She's a rubbish doula. She's nowhere near Norfolk for a start.

Ooooh harsh SOH - I hear she's ok as a doula but her real talent lies in cake making...........

Mars, you'd like my consultant. He worked as an obstetric consultant for years and then his wife had a traumatic labour and he changed his mind about all sorts. He gives over his time to talking to women who've had traumatic labours and offered last year to be my consultant for any future pregnancy. He says lots and lots of interesting things about language and society. He hates the word 'allowed' for example. Loves doulas too. Is quite confident talking about empowerment and choice for women. He's a bit sexy as well which helps.

It's been lovely to meet an obstetric consultant who's been working for 20 years and says he's still learning every day. I like him. You would too.

Now all I need is you to move to Norfolk temporarily. Or I could move into twelveyeargap's house without her noticing. Are you still local to her?

Mars · 30/03/2011 14:28

Am still local to tyg! So I think that that's your best option.

Your consultant sounds like a dream. I think that once doctors see their own partners go through it, or go through it themselves, they suddenly realise that they need to have healthy, happy MUM as well as healthy, happy baby.

Or Bournemouth. The cow refused to move near me.

HowBreastfeedingWorks · 30/03/2011 18:24

Blinking geography and time/space getting in the way of Mars being everyone's doula - it isn't fair!

Wonderful woman, I do wish she'd been mine.

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2011 20:54

Don't you dare call her a cow. She's a cowbag. Refusing to go on tour. Terrible.

My aunt's going to doula for me hopefully. She's a community midwife and the feistiest woman in the western world so I'll be in good hands.

Flame · 30/03/2011 22:55

I take it back.

Cowbag
