How do I delete all the things I've searched for in Google? EG if I type a letter a into the search box it comes up with a drop down list of everything beginning with a that I've ever searched for.

I'm not overly worried but it is bugging me!

Do you have a Google toolbar on the top of your page?
if so, left click on the little downward pointing arrow and it should give you 'Options'.
Enter there and it will give you the option to 'untick' the "drop-down search history' box which then clears it.
Hope that works for you - just did for me, anyway!
