Housework Motivation - Does a timetable help ?

Im really awful with the housework- I have no organised pattern whatsoever- it's done either when the kids are being good, or when Im in the mood (which is v rare!)
My problem is I'd rather spend time with the children than scrubbing and washing.I have heaps of washing ironing and its getting worse by the day!!
Will writing up a timetable eg: Monday am- ironing, monday pm - wash bathrooms help ?
Does anyone use them to moitivate themselves to do it- or am i a digusting lazy slob ?
Feedback greatly welcomed-its really getting to me!!

hehe Im just hoping if i write one up and its put on the wall then I will have to obey it- I really have no motivation at all for housework....I need a supernanny style reward chart maybe!!
Maybe the kids could start a pasta jar for Mummy's cleaning!!

I have started a plan - 15 Mins each a day, for me and dh. Thios cannot include cooking, loading or emptying dishwasher.

Has to be CLEANING!! (don't do ironing!)
