Laptop problems....can anyone help?

My computer chappie came a couple of weeks ago and set wireless up.
All was well until two days ago and the guys were on the laptop. They didnt close it down properly....just pressed the off button.
Now I have no internet connection to the lap top!!!
My computer guy flew out on holiday yesterday, but just before he left for the airport he phoned and told me to do a sytem restore as that would fix it.
I did that and took the laptop back two days as he said but it didnt work!

Anyone got any ideas how I can restore my connection??

This is what I did ... may help.

On the back of the wireless box ( router ) there is a reset button.

I turned eveything off and pressed the reset button.
The booteed everything up again.
I am with a BT wireless router to therefore had to access their onfiguration management page to "trigger" the router again.

This is very simplifed ... but let me know if you need more detail ...
