Here

OK, so I don't actually have it just yet...but I will have in 10 days

It's the Passion cabriolet, in red and silver. It has air con, and they have thrown in a free CD player for me.

We had one of the original left hand drive Smarts, non cabriolet then though, and I loved it. Was one of the only carswe have had that I have been sad to lose.

But this one is even more cool!

cod

Yes, okay then - we did both pay for it out of joint income. But he ordered it all last night oer the phone, as he knew I wanted one and we;d been looking, etc.

I got my Bettle in January time, but because of how far I now drive it is proving to be very unemconomical on the petrol. It isn't thebest for motorway driving - it seems to eat petrol.

Have you been in a Smart? Inside they are pretty big and spacious, supringly so. It is only for me - and DD when I pick her up/take her to nursery, and when onour own. DH has a "normal" car! It is just like a normal car but shorter!

You lucky girl!!!!

Hulababy · 25/10/2005 20:37

Honest, I have had one before and it really isn't a squeeze for me and DD at all!

I had a Beetle before. Well still do for 10 days. Dh has a new Golf GTi for we do have a normal family car too.

You'd be suprised. Especially now they have increased the engine size (it was tiny) and it is no longer limit to a set speed, it is very nippy. I used my last one on the motorway 80 miles retun journey every day and it coped very well, and kept up easily with the other traffic. the body is plastic (and very safe) so very light in that sense.

Not great for everyone maybe, but for what I want and need it'll be fab

Gosh Hula - it does look tiny. I parked my Discovery next to one a couple of weeks ago and the pair of them looked very amusing together. Wish dh would buy me a car but sadly is looking at another Discovery or Range Rover for himself.

Be sure to post a piccie of yourself with it under Member Profiles

rummum · 25/10/2005 23:29

love it... will he buy me one too...

madmummyof2 · 25/10/2005 23:31

its very nice but i wouldnt be able to get my big toe in there let alone teh rest of me.

bet its easy for parkign though

BadHair · 25/10/2005 23:50

Where does your shopping go? Or handbag? Do they do an estate version?
Seriously it looks lovely - and you can be really smug and park in tiny spaces.

GeorgieVickyLou · 25/10/2005 23:59

It's so cute..

Hulababy · 26/10/2005 20:22

Those commenting on space for people - honest, go and have a look inside one. The front is no different - infact roomier - tha a normal car. DH is 6 feet 2 and fits in just fine

Boot is on small size, but hey - no buggy any more. Sainsburys to you delivers my shopping for me Rest fits fine. In last car I alway did my own shopping at supermarket and I easily fit in £100 work of groceries and more. As for other shopping - I still have the Golf to use for Ikea trips, etc.

9 days!!!!

hulababy that is lovely

Lucky you

Just to say that the interior of a Smart works even for lard arses, even for two lard arses. The seats aren't quite lined up with each other IIRC, so you don't elbow each other every time you turn etc., loads of head space, and generous feel to the cabin infront of you. Behind, the boot space is obviously limited by the car's length.

Have hired one once for a weekend in Euro land. Great laugh. Loved the car. Gearbox can take a bit of getting used to, and it isn't the smoothest ride in the world with the gear changes, but I found it an absolute blast and would imagine it's fine to live with day to day. If there are some newer / faster engines, it'll be fun fun fun, hula !

Enjoy !!!!!
