underlay to go under the carpet

we bought a carpet last year but its rotten so we tried to clean it with our Bissel cleaner but it just soaked right thru cos of no underlay underneath it

if i get the underlay, is it too late to "save" the carpet as its rotten!

when you say rotten do you mean water damage or dirty rotten ?. sounds funny like that!

dirty rotten (due to my pain in the neck DP works boots is rotten as he always forgets to take them off).

as just wondering if i lay down the underlay and put the carpet back down too, the bissel will clean it properly

Is it foam backed or hessian?

Could you wash it and hang it on the line to dry?

none as im not sure what it is as it looked like white fluffy material on back of carpet and i cant wash it and hang it as the carpet is 16 X 15

Sounds like foam - so it would dry out eventually (as it's likely to be synthetic)

Lots of heat or a dehumidifier........to dry it out.

Don't know how you could get it clean...sorry

use a vax cleaner or something if you can get hold of one..works wonders.
