You could always bathe in Champagne. Or asses milk (my mother used to say Cleopatra bathed in it).

Loads of sympathy, well used to incompetance of a certain utility company. Make sure you claim the (paltry) compensation you're entitled to, this comes from the OFWAT site:

Unplanned interruptions
If there is an unplanned interruption to the supply, due to a burst main for example, the company must restore the supply within 12 hours unless the burst or leak is in a "strategic main" in which case the company has up to 48 hours. A "strategic main" is a major water main, which supplies the area. In addition to these guaranteed standards, companies must also, as soon as possible, take all reasonable steps to inform customers:
where an alternative supply may be obtained;
the time it proposes to restore the supply;
a telephone number where the customer can obtain more information.
If the supply is not restored within the time(s) given above, household customers are entitled to a compensation payment of £20 plus a further £10 for each 24-hour period the supply remains unrestored. Non-household customers are entitled to £50 plus a further £25 for each 24-hour period the supply remains unrestored

They're tw**s aren't they, water companies. Came back from holiday a few weeks ago, to no water. Rang water company (United Utilities) to have a totally Kafkaesque conversation about how they wouldn't be able to investiage unless more than one house was affected! We explained that house next door was vacant and we had no idea whether their water was off or on, had just arrived home after driving 10 hours and had a child. All to no avail. The 'more than one house' mantra droned on and on.

Hate the bastards, rant away twiglett and hope you get sorted soon. And thanks for that advice Twink, will check that again next time I need it.

You could always swap places with David Blaine.

Incredible isn't it - we've had no hot water since Friday, no water at all since first thing on Sunday! Fortunately my parents are staying and have spent their days visiting tankers and shipping buckets back and forth. Dd even got a bath last night - the lucky thing!

Am actually glad to be in work for once, as they have fabulous showers here!

I saw it on the news too! We're in Camberwell so must have missed it by a whisker - thank God. We got a powercut last week though, but that was just quite exciting. This must be utterly grim. You can come round to mine for a bath if you want!

BTW that is a serious offer if you are stuck.
