We're moving back home to Glasgow and the houses seem to be large and fairly reasonably priced.
What's it like for social life/nurseries/schools etc.

Helensburgh is very nice, very middle class but a little geriatric!

I lived near there some years ago and Hermitage Academy had an excellent reputation. I don't know what the nursery schools are like.

Train service to Glasgow is good and reliable too.

Countryside is awesome in the surrounding areas!

Thanks Soapbox - was there a community spirit and child friendly?

Move to Falkirk! I've just put my house on the market!!

I used to go out with a guy from Falkirk - bad memories from there!

It's pretty nice. Lovely houses and easy commute to Glasgow by train.

Can't say I know about nurseries and schools though but I can't think of a 'dodgy ' area in it at all

Same as Pagan I can't think of any dodgy area but it has quite a large elderly population. My aunt lived there until alzheimers struck but it was lovely, she really enjoyed living there and made lots of friends, she had just moved back to Scotland from Australia. Two of my mum's friends from Canada lived there also.

It is a nice place to walk around and the train station is great to get to Glasgow. I had heard that more families are moving into the area as it is supposed to have quite a high standard of living.
