You should encourage them to play any instrument they want.

So many of my friends wanted to play an instrument but their parents did not make it possible.

You never know what it could lead on to.

I use to play the violin and my older sister would threaten to stick it up my **se.

But with practice i eventually played music easy on the ears

UNfortunately I suspect it will lead to deafness (on my part). DD1 has also started to learn to play the flute. It's a LOT quieter, matches their characters I suppose.

I couldn't learn an instrument either - parents couldn't afford it

Anyone else encouraged their kids to do something whilst thinking 'oh no' quietly?
