Sanding a Kitchen Floor

I am doing up a house and have had to spend quite a lot of my budget on basic remedial work. I was therefore thinking about sanding the kitchen floor rather than laying flooring - Can anyone think of any potential problems?

Yes, the wooden floor that was in our kitchen when we moved in wore very badly. I wouldn't recommend one in a kitchen. We laid tiles on top.
