Is there any chance you could put a few gaps in between sentances for me? I hope I don't seem rude, I'd like to see if I could help but my tired eyes can't read properly tonight.

went up to aberdeen for the weekend made sure i had breakdown cover, got car checked etc and on my way home my car was really playing up.
when i put my foot on the accelerator it spluttered and slowed down. its done this before and they could not work out what it was as when i took it in it was fine.
anyway i was coming out of aberdeen and it started so i pulled over at a petrol station went to the loo and came back and it was fine again.
i was going to arbroath to visit grandparents and it was fine all the way there so i thought that was it.

ha how wrong was i. i got to the big perth round about and it started again worse so i pulled into a layby and called direct line rescue they told me i was priority as i was on my own with dd (6months) an hour later no1 was there so i called again and they got the garage to call me as they couldnt find me.
the garage said where are you and i told them and they said oh we dont deal with that area you will need to call back and get some1 else.

so back on phone in tears explaining where i was and they got another garage to call me so i could explain to them. 30 mins later they arrived and they were so nice they towed the car to their garage to find out what to do.

this was at 3.30pm and i called dl again to make sure i had cover to be taken home as they couldnt find what was wrong. dl said i was only covered to be taken 10 miles (wtf) i know for a fact i specificaly asked for cover that i would be taken home no matter where i was. they said i didnt but i could pay £75 and be taken home.

the garage owner was there and said could he speak to them so he spoke and the guy said yeah that was right so he then had to be put through to green flag to arrange it all. green flag told him the £75 only covered 10 miles so i asked if that ment i would be taken 20 (cos of the 10 i was covered for) and they said no just 10.

in the end at 6pm i eventually just had to head home and guess what it started doing it again just as i was hitting glasgow. i couldnt be arsed phoning the pile of useless gits again so i just had to keep going hoping it didnt get worse or just stop. eventually got home after it stopping twice (luckily nowhere really dangerous) at 10pm.

Have you got your policy? That should say what is or isn't covered and will sort them straight out!

BadHair · 18/10/2005 23:06

If you only have the standard policy it will only cover you for towing to the nearest garage, which they class as being within 10 miles. You normally have to pay an extra premium for recovery further.
You could definitely argue the fact that they put you through to the wrong garage, though, as this caused an unnecessary delay and stress.
