Survey: does having stretch marks make you more likely to tear giving birth?

Just wondering really about skin types. I have fairly dry skin, got stretch marks when pg with DS and had a second degree tear.

I know other people who say that they didn't get stretch marks and didn't tear - and they have oilier skin.

What's your experience?

I have really dry skin, had loads of stretchmarks with DS but did not tear, didnt need any stitches.

I didn't get stretch marks (took a homeopathic remedy) but had an episotomy & tore

You don't really know anything about it though, well I didn't 'cos I had an epidural.

Went home the next day & sat cross legged

You can use almond oil to moisturise the skin...I didn't, so no idea if it makes a difference

i had stretchmarks with both my children although my skin is what i would call normal, and i gave birth to 8lb and 7lb 9oz without so much of a graze, although i would suggest perineium massage, not the most glamourous thing in the world but give it a go

Fairly dry skin, skiploads of stretch marks from pg1 (had some on thighs and breasts from teenage years anyway) no tears despite rather hefty babies.

No stretch marks, tore both times.

Covered in stretch marks, tiny tiny tear. It wasn't bad, I didn't notice
