wedding reception invite , do i take a present ? just a card ?
actually its just ds2 that is going to keep his good friend company .
what do i do ?

Depends how well you know them? I don't think a present is obligatory if it's just the do. How about a nice bottle of wine with a card attached? Somehow it feels nicer to turn up with something in hand, however small.

ah yes wine , thats a good idea.
have known the bride for years but only really got together to take the boys places , her son is disabled so she always accompanies him when going out and has my son over to hers rather than the other way around as she prefers.
we do get on well though and i like her alot .

It's one of those vague etiquette things where no one really knows what to do. I don't think most brides/grooms would expect anything more than a card from reception only invitees, but yes, a bottle of wine or fizz would be the way to go if you want to take something.
