Who's joining me for the big clean thread???

After a quick discussion last night, we thought it would be an idea for all those who desperately need to get some housework done, to have a thread for it.

The plan is to do housework for 1/2 hr, then come back on, say what you've got done, have a quick mn break, and then head back for another 1/2 hour.

I'm going swimming with DD, and then coming back to get started.

Have we started yet? I have failed if so!

spidermama · 14/10/2005 11:00

PMSL.
The LAST thing we housework avoiders need is a thread about it.

Lonelymum · 14/10/2005 11:06

Right I have cleaned my fridge - gosh what a long time that took! Also, made 5 beds, got ds3 washed and dressed, emptied the dishwasher, put the breakfast things in and sorted a bit of washing.

Are none of the rest of you joining in? It all seems to be chat and no housework here! Come on, report on what jobs you have done so far!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 14/10/2005 11:08

jobs so far today...

got up
got jess up
changed dirt nappy
fed jess
changed wet nappy
put jess down for nap
got my breakfast

thats it

Lonelymum · 14/10/2005 11:10

err no real housework done there JABM!

But it is OK in your case, you sholdn't be doing any!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 14/10/2005 11:13

ok, so no, not done real housework but my back hurts too much - i hoovered yesterday if that makes up for it? (not that it looks like it now!)

Chloe55 · 14/10/2005 11:14

I think your name is ironic lonelymum if you had 5 beds to make this morning! Either that or you work in a B&B.

Lonelymum · 14/10/2005 11:15

Go and get yourself some chocolate and watch some TV girl! You will be busy enough in the weks to come.

LilacBump · 14/10/2005 11:15

ok since i had a shower i have

paid bills online and filed away paperwork
done the dishes
cleaned the worktops
cleaned windowsill in kitchen
hoovered up kitchen, living room and hallway
tidied up livingroom

still lots to do but i have to take DD to school soon

Lonelymum · 14/10/2005 11:15

Ah Chloe, there are many different forms of loneliness!

Right off to start on a bathroom.

flamebat · 14/10/2005 11:18

I have now....

Done the avon order (needed to get it done so it counts as work )
Thrown out a pile of cr*p from diningroom...

That's about it - the diningroom is a mammoth task as it isn't used much, so I tend to do other rooms and ignore it.

I'm now going to gather my swimming stuff and go play with my baby for a couple of hours. I'll start up again when I get back.

Right - I'm checking in!

So far I have

cleaned 2 toilets
Put washing on radiators / in tumble drier
Sorted out two more loads of washing and have put 1 on
Had an argument with La Reoute customer service operator about non-delivery of a jumper
Paid online bills
Cleaned DS's bum!!!
Am now attempting to clean study - but computer is proving too much of a distraction

Lonelymum · 14/10/2005 11:57

Done one bathroom but losing the will to do the other...

sweetkitty · 14/10/2005 12:44

House was driving me mad this morning so I have stayed off MN and done:

Breastfast for me and DD
Dirty and wet nappies
Took nappies off radiator and made them up
3 loads of washing
hung 2 loads of washing outside
done dishes
done kitchen surfaces and polished the chrome
emptied cat litter tray
emptied bin and taken outside
had a bit of tidy of bin area in garden
hoovered kitchen floor
hoovered living room/dining room
polished living room/dining room
had quick clean of downstairs loo (despite doing loos yesterday)
ordered shopping from Tesco online
pushed DD up and down dining room/living room on toy with wheels thing 10 times
made beds upstairs
sorted out washing upstairs

am feeling like saintly domestic godess now and will devote rest of the day to MNing and playing with DD

sweetkitty · 14/10/2005 12:45

breastfast lol meant breakfast been a while since DD had breastfast!

think I'm having a mad pregnant nesting urge today

Rhubarb · 14/10/2005 12:49

There are stains all over my floor.
The cooker doesn't know what a scourer is.
My toilet doesn't bear looking at.
The sheets are stiff and hard!
Last week's washing is still hanging up drying.
I don't know where the iron is, or even if we have one.
I haven't washed up from breakfast.
There is split milk in the fridge that is starting to pong.
I emptied the bin yesterday, tied up the bag and left it near the door to go outside, it's still there.

dd is at school, ds is in creche, and what have I done? Bugger all! And.....I DON'T CARE!

So I do hope you won't be offended if I do not join your big cleaning thread!

flamebat · 14/10/2005 14:14

I normally don't care - house inspection by landlord on Sunday

Back from swimming, DD is out cold, so gonna eat my lunch then go back to the diningroom

flamebat · 14/10/2005 16:23

Bump for charliebat.

All gone horribly wrong this end... DD started crying about 2.50, so I decided to lie down and give her a cuddle... only just woken

Feeling good though

I even did some online Christmas shopping today (it won't last)!

DD has pulled all her toys out the toy box and cushions off the sofas to make cushion mountains so despite huge clear up the living room looks a mess.

flamebat · 14/10/2005 19:55

Bumpin again for CB (if you're still on).

It all went hideously wrong here . Slept after swimming, was about to get started again when DH came home, made me a cup of tea, and told me that I should sit with a paper for the evening

Who am I to argue?

OP posts:
charliebat · 14/10/2005 20:00

Ahhh pleased to see there is a few less dust mites about today
I have, after working and picking up the kids....gutted thier room. Took about 2 hours. There is a load of general, dishes, picking up etc to do down here but I have achieved the mammoth kids room thing. And hoovered the bathroom while I was there
