Do your stretch marks bother you?

Mine do ... my tummy looks like a piece of crepe. I worry about my top riding up and showing it and would never wear a bikini again. My midriff used to be my best bit

yes. totally.
another crepey one here.

LadyTophamHatt · 13/10/2005 18:23

No they don't, not one bit. I think I'mm be in the minority saying that I'm actually quite fond of them.

DH is absolutley horrified by them though.

flamebat · 13/10/2005 18:23

Not all that much. I'm a bit crepey - it was the bottom part of the bump, so they start a couple of inches below my navel.

Didn't even occur to me to worry about them with bikini... my fat did bother me

Enid · 13/10/2005 18:24

i have none

but terrified of getting them this pg

LadyTophamHatt · 13/10/2005 18:24

Should also add my strech marks go veritcally and horizontally so make an austrian blind effect.

Still don't bother me.

Bibiboo · 13/10/2005 18:25

I wish I could look on them in a positive light, like traces of where I grew my dd, but I can't. they're gross.

misdee · 13/10/2005 18:25

my stretch marks dont bother me, i mean i have 3 beuatiful kids and only suffered a few stretch marks, i;m more worried about my flab lol.

Lonelymum · 13/10/2005 18:25

I can honestly say I don't think about them. Anyway, I like that line in Shirley Valentine when Costos kisses her stretch marks and says she should not be ashamed by them as they show that she has lived. That is how I feel.

LilacBump · 13/10/2005 18:27

a bit. but they don't bother DP. and i never wore a bikini anyway.

Bibiboo · 13/10/2005 18:27

I don't like how they're selective about who they effect. It should be everyone or no-one. Somewhere there's a Stretch Mark Council and they pick our names at random from a list of pregnant ladies, I'm sure of it.

They dont overly bother me but I make a point of wearing things so noone else can see them.

iota · 13/10/2005 18:29

I only have a few, but they don't bother me - my flabby gut does though

katymac · 13/10/2005 18:30

The ones I got with DD are minor and loved

The enormous one I got with my ectopic I hate and it hurts terribly sometimes - like something is trapped in it...you can push thro' to my insides between the muscles

JoolsToo · 13/10/2005 18:31

no but they're hardly noticeable - they used to bother me but not anymore

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 13/10/2005 18:33

mine are horrible, but i wouldnt say they bother me.... i wouldnt wear a bikini - i wear a Tankini instead and the top meets the bottoms perfectly!

Worse this time than with Jess, but they are baby marks and im proud of my gorgeous girl (and bump) and dont care what anyone thinks!

doormat · 13/10/2005 18:39

I dont really have any stretchmarks

munz · 13/10/2005 18:40

i've not got any yet thankfully - althou do have bio oil - apparently it works wonders and helps reduce them after the baby's been born as well - i've been using it on DH's back as well - ill have to let u know how it goes.

marthamoo · 13/10/2005 18:41

I had the most dreadful stretchmarks with ds1 - my tummy looked like red zebra stripes all over (from about an inch above my navel, to just above my pubic bone) I found them very upsetting when I was pregnant - all I had to go on was pictures in pregnancy magazines and no-one in those looked like they'd been whipped. They've faded away now and, while my tummy still looks pretty grim - and I would never get it out in public they really don't bother me now. My tummy was worse before I lost weight - it's never going to be 'toned' again, but it's not as flabby as it was.

Blondeinlondon · 13/10/2005 19:09

I've had stretch marks since puberty
Only got one tiny extra one from pregnancy
More worried about the flab to be honest

manicmama · 13/10/2005 19:09

Please let me know where you got that tankini that meets in the middle Jessicaandbumpsmummy!

Just have to learn to live with them I suppose.

I GOT them on my hips, thighs, knees!!, and boobs. Think I have a couple at the top of my arms at the back too, but I can't see those. They do bother me a bit. But they are fading now. My tummy has been latively unscathed, strangely. I got one large strretchmark just above my hairline (sorry if TMI) they day before DS arrived. DP pointed it out, but neither of us clicked that it was where a little head had moved down...
That one is now moved down to under my hairline now though (no Brazilians here, thanks!).

If I can't see them, I pretend no-one else can either...

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 13/10/2005 19:16

latively needs a re at the front.

Racers · 13/10/2005 19:27

Thought they would but they don't at all. Podgy tummy does but I'll start dieting when I stop breastfeeding

frannykenstein · 13/10/2005 19:41

Yes, crepey here too. Dp says "it's ok, they just make you look older." Gee thanks

Is annoying as my stomach is flatter than it has been for years (breastfeeding seems to work as a form of liposuction for me) but hideous wrinkly texture - ugh.
