Horrible thing to have to ask, but a few days ago our cat had an accident (wee) in the corner of the room the kids use to play in. We have a house inspection tomorrow before our lease extension is signed. this house is spick and span- no probs there- but I cannot shift that odour, scrubbed carpet, used febreeze- nothing!. Any ideas anyone?

bicarb of soda?

Coathanger · 11/10/2005 19:52

Bicarbonate of soda??? Not sure how - probably spinkle it liberally ovewr the patch then hoover it up. Bicarb is meant to be brill on strong smells.
HTH!

Snap! coathanger

our cat went though a big phase of doing this and I found bicarb helped to shift the lingering smell.

It didn't shift it altogether though: I'd do something really smelly that day to help hide it (bake some bread or a curry?)

Mask the smell with freshly brewed coffee when they are due round ?
Or very large bunch of flowers with a generous helping of flowery air fresher sprayed over them ?

After you have bicarbed the area to get rid of the smell to human noses, wash the area with biological washing powder - this means the cat won't be able to smell it and associate it with "toilet area" and do it again!

Orange peel is supposed to absorb the smell.

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 12/10/2005 12:21

Think I've sorted it- neutradol version of shake and vac seems to have done it. Thank you!
