Any ideas???

Anyone got any ideas what might be wrong with ds?? Since he was about 5 weeks old, he's had an excellence night time routine. Bath at about 8pm, then bottle, then bed. And he goes straight to sleep without any fuss for about 10 hours.

He is 15 weeks old, and for the past 3 nights he is just not interested in his last bottle. Everytime we try and give it him he gets really upset, so for the second time in three days he's gone to bed without a bottle.

We'ved tried winding him, thinking it could be that, but nothing comes up. We've tried waiting 15 minutes and he's happy until we try to give it him again.

Really don't know what to do with him, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

if he doesn't want it then don't make him have it!

newmumhelp · 10/10/2005 22:10

I don't think its because he doesn't want it. Why would he go from having 7oz every night to suddenly nothing! He won't even put his mouth round the bottle

What makes you think he wants it, newmumhelp? Is he waking up in the night hungry?

katymac · 10/10/2005 22:12

Is he still sleeping thro' if so then don't worry

If he isn't sleeping then maybe there is something going on - but he may not 'need' that bottle just now

Is he getting more active, maybe he is over tired? Maybe try bringing his bedtime forward by an hour?

startingtobehalloweenylover · 10/10/2005 22:13

ditto... does he wake in the night?

newmumhelp · 10/10/2005 22:22

No but wakes at 6am instead of 7. But he's only done it once so far, and this time he only had half of his feed before that, which makes me think it must be something. He's usually a hungry boy and has all of his bottles all of the time, so to leave half of one is out of the ordinary but leave half and then a full one is just unheard of, so understandable i'm a bit worried. Perhaps you're right and he just doesn't need it. Just seems strange.

Might try the earlier to bed thing though

Babies go in cycles sometimes they really grow and eat loads - other times they slow down and eat less. If he is sleeping - I wouldn't worry too much

startingtobehalloweenylover · 10/10/2005 22:26

ahh well they do that you know... just get you used to the routine and then change it! blimmin babies.

seriously though, if he is happy and healthy then go with it... he knows if he is hungry or not!

My ds also started changing his routine to an earlier bedtime and earlier start!

Slept through again. How silly do i feel. Never even entered my mind that he simply wasn't hungry. Had convinced myself there was something wrong with him. Thanks all
