It's the best one I have tried.

SoupDragon · 05/09/2003 07:46

I love Google.

wobblymum · 05/09/2003 09:19

Another vote for Google, it always seems to find what I want, not some weird stuff that's completely different!

Bobsmum · 05/09/2003 09:25

google rules - especially for an image search which I only just discovered. Instead of using the "web" search on the left hand side of the search box, click "image" and type "moomin" - awwwww!

Bogwoppit · 05/09/2003 09:53

aww I love moomins.
will google from now on

bobsmum... isn't this awful but i had never bothered to look at the options for googling... you can search for images!!! what a revelation!!!! i spend ages and ages trawling through sites for pics (ict teacher! - lots of copying and pasting of vikings!!!) and now i can search dead easy!!! thank you!... (and i call myself an ict teacher!!! ???? how could i not have known that!!!.... i should call my surfing mumsnet 'staff training!!'

p.s. funny thing! i typed in dh's name and came up with a lovely piccie of dh and dd!... and a not so lovely pic of himself a la work picture!!!

Google is God.

Google is the best. Install the toolbar, makes life so much easier - and it bans pop-ups as well!

scottiebabe · 05/09/2003 10:37

Sorry to be thick but how does it ban pop up would love to get rid of the ones i get

Search on google toolbar - using Google!!! This should take you to the right place. Install toolbar by clicking on appropriate button. The Google toolbar just sits at the top of the page like the IE toolbar. It has a little space you can type in your query, so no need to go to Google home page. Also the phrase you searched on sits on the toolbar, you can click on different words to highlight where they are in the document. It will automatically ban pop-ups by default.

Why use one of them when you can use several at once?!

I like Copernic Agent - it's a program you download and then it accesses all the search engines and ranks the most likely returns. I've found stuff using Copernic that I had problems finding on individual search engines.

In fact, I liked it so much, I paid for the upgrade. But from what I remember the basic free version was very good too.

GeorginaA · 05/09/2003 17:01

Also, be aware that Google Toolbar only works with IE and not with other browsers.

Google is the best. Bloss, if you ever meet them again, please give them the heartfelt thanks of a secondary teacher.

Lara2 · 05/09/2003 19:31

I Ask Jeeves, mainly because it's much easier to get back to the original page. Or am I being totally thick and doing something wrong????

XAusted · 05/09/2003 19:38

Google is good. I also do searches from the BBCi home page, I like the way they present the results.

Linnet · 06/09/2003 21:30

I never used google before I did my ECDL through work and now I use it all the time. Not because I didn't know that it was there had just never used it before and we had to use it during training and I've never looked back.
