Not allowed to go to NCT ante-natal classes!

I was speaking to an acquaintance the other morning and we got onto the subject of ante-natal classes.
She had wanted to go to the NCT ones, but when she rang to book a place they said she couldn't come if she didn't bring her partner! He didn't want to come... wasn't interested in that kinda thing... but she wanted to go by herself and they wouldn't let her!

Is this normal?

i didn't have any at all... mainly due to my probs booking NCT ones... by the time I actually managed to get through to someone I only had 6 weeks to go and the course was 9 weeks!

The NHS ones I was offered 3. Asked for evening classes so DP could come but turned down and told I could only have them during the day (despite signing up for evening when i was 12 weeks pg!)
I couldn't have paid time off work to go, so didn't bother!
