Bad day and feeling rubbish because

I work in a large office and switched from a lovely team to another one a month ago.

I have just found out that it is someones leaving do tonight and e-mails have been being circulated all week to all the team minus me.

When I mentioned this to the girl who sits next to me and said how upset I was by this she just shrugged and said she didn't send any e-mails even though I know she did. This is the same girl I sat with last week for an hour while she sobbed her heart out because she found out her sales figures were not as good as she thought they were and that her bonus was going to be low.

I am not a bad person. I have been suffering a lot of anxiety recently too and this has made me feel ten times worse.

PS - I am a regular poster but don't want you guys to think I am a sad case too

That's just nasty and rude.
Ask yourself: Do you really want to spend an evening with people like that?
How about arranging something nice, even if it's only a nice glass of wine with dp/dh, for tonight to take your mind off it?
Are you still in touch with your old team?

Nightynight · 07/10/2005 18:00

how very rude of them not to include you, even if you are new. not sad - Id be miffed too.

soverysad · 07/10/2005 18:08

Thank you for your kind words

Yes I am but they work different hours to me now.

Just feel a bit sad and rejected

soverysad - had a similar incident myself yesterday. I'm in a group of 4 friends (incl me) who meet up every week with our kids - one is having her dd baptised on Sunday and yesterday, while having a coffee with two of them, it becomes apparent that friend has invited 2 of the group leaving just me out! Charming eh?!

The other 3 are catholic and I'm not - don't know if that's it but even so, you'd think she'd say something rather than just go on about who is going while I sit and feel uncomfortable. Some people are soooo insensitive.

soverysad · 07/10/2005 18:55

Sorry to hear this gobbledispook - makes you feel crap doesn't it. In a way I feel for you more because these are supposed to be your friends. Have you spoken to them about this?

My team are mainly young without kids types. Two of the blokes have been lovely including the one who is leaving - he wasn't aware and he told me about it. The rest...

Off to have a drink now!

Ps - Not told DH either - feel like a bit of a failure and ashamed.

You have nothing to be ashamed of. They are behaving like schoolchildren. It's pathetic.

Unless you live a secret life unknown to us on MN as Colin the office joker from the Fast Show, of course...

ediemaybeabat · 07/10/2005 19:00

I bet the 2 nice blokes will spend all evening asking why you aren't there and it will make the witchy women feel reeeeeeaaaaalllyy uncomfortable. Smile about that while you treat yourself to a lovely evening with lots of wine

littlemissbossy · 07/10/2005 19:03

soverysad, know just how you feel - I too am working in a new office team where they do not include me in the birthday collections for other members of staff, so I never know when it's someones birthday
oh well looking for another job anyway

soverysad · 10/10/2005 09:52

Thanks everyone for being so nice. Sniff Sniff!

Littlemissbossy - the worse thing is I do get included in the e-mails about collections so my money is acceptable, just not my company.

Due into work in a couple of hours - not looking forward to it.

Wish me luck all

Hope you have a batter day today soverysad!

I'd be upset too in your position. Next time this woman wants a shoulder to cry on tell her your busy and she'll need to sort out her crap sales figures herself

moondog · 10/10/2005 10:32

svd.....think that most people aren't bad, just thoughtless and stupid when it comes to things like that.

Anyway, who wants to be out with a group of people that you've been with all day?? Not me,that's for sure, and I loved my colleagues!

Think of it....

bad food, warm wine, listening to pissed lads talk shite, arguing over the bill ('Well I didn't have the starter....')spending loads and feeling groggy the next day.

Great eh?????

Hope you had a nice w/end.

Office politics = school playground. Both deadly places to be at times. Sod 'em.
