...I have met a girl at one of the baby groups we go to and we have swapped numbers so we can meet up outside the group. She has been suffering from PND and whereas I find we get on fine with the small talk during the class we both go to I dont want to put my foot in it if I invite her over for coffee. What should I do - acknowledge the PND, ignore it, something else.

She mentioned that she had been suffering with PND but was trying to get out and about more on the way out to the car park after class but as I was just leaving to get dd home to see her gran all I could say was good for you for getting out more.

Also I am not exactly the happiest of mummies myself - I'm not suffering with PND but have fairly heavy doses of baby blues even now so am I the best tonic?

Any experiences welcome.

Just treat as you would anyone else! Be friendly and she will either want to talk about it or she won't. Try not to worry, it will either work out or it won't.

Thanks FFPF - I know I'm being daft - living up to my muppet name!!

I'd imagine if she mentioned it on the way to the car she bring it up over a coffee . Just have a coffee and a chat and enjoy!

I expect if she wants to talk about it she will bring it up, she may need someone to discuss it with. On the other hand she may be fine and want to just chat generally. It will be fine.

Sounds to me like she was dropping a hint to arrange a meet up... you could be exactly what each other needs, far more than someone who thinks motherhood is all sweetness and light and an emotional rainbow (where did I get that phrase? it's C*ap!)

Go for it

Thanks all - I am going for walks most days (lots of jelly belly to get rid of) so will ask her along.

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 04/10/2005 22:52

No, I effin do NOT!!!! Much as I love the little demons

Actually, sometimes for a few hours yes..... then up goes the scream and off I go again.....

As my lo is sound asleep hopefully now until 7 or 8 tomorrow morning I am going to bed myself to dream of my emotional rainbow. Like that phrase - going to use it as much as I can from now on
