Hello all!

Just need a little hand with something that we can't seem to fix!
I was downloading a CD - Rom that I borrowed from the library for DS today and all of a sudden everything on the screen went ENORMOUS! All the icons on the desktop are huge (just about cover the whole screen) and everything on e-mail is enormous ... even now, as I am typing, this box is huge and so are the words! This message box is just about the only thing that can fit on the screen!

What happened and how can I fix it??

Cheers

Thanks coddy ... but I'm a bit of a dimwit ... reboot ... um, does that mean simply switch of and switch off again?

Hi Ghosty

Whats happened is that some games change the size of your screen resolution. Are you using Windows XP, ME etc? Let me know and I can run you through how to make them smaller again. Usually once you exit the game the size should revert to normal. x

There should be a button near your on/off button, and it should be smaller than the on/off button. Press that and that will reboot your PC. You can just switch off and switch on again and it won't do any harm but there is a specific 'reset' button to reboot.

Thanks 3girlsmum and wobblymum!
3GM ... we have got Windows XP ...
Will find the button WM ...
I am normally quite good with this sort of stuff but as this has never happened before I was stumped!

Or look in the settings - usually off the start button somewhere - display settings usually says something about icons and screen resolution.

To reboot click on Start on the task bar, then Shut Down and you should get a choice of shut down, restart and maybe something else - choosing restart reboots your PC. Pressing CTRL, ALT and Delete at the same time, twice should also work.

This happened to me the other day. If none of the other advice works it might mean that your video card (?) has crashed. My husband installed a new one in 5 mins but I can't tell you how until he's in later. Post if you still need to know.

Ghosty,

If you're still stuck, let me have your e-mail address (thru Contact another talker) and I can send you step-by step instructions on changing your screen res, including pictures of how.

Thanks everyone .... sorted now ... did what Bloss suggested (which is what DH tried but couldn't find the right bit) ... and it worked! Hurrah!
