It's from Chigley.

Time flies by when I'm the driver of a train
And I ride on the footplate there and back again
Under bridges over bridges to our destination
Puffing through the countryside there's so much to be seen.
Passengers waving as we steam through a station.
Stoke up fireman for the signal is at green.

Time flies by when I'm the driver of a train
And I ride on the footplate there and back again
In the cutting, through the tunnel,
Rushing clanking on the track.
Wheezing pistons, smoking funnels,
Turning wheels go clickety clack.

Time flies by when I'm the driver of a train
And I ride on the footplate there and back again.

I always preferred the Half Man Half Biscuits' version - anyone one else remember them? Class

Carlk · 04/10/2005 17:07

WigWamBam · 04/10/2005 17:50

Careful with that spliff, Eugene, it causes condensation ...

aaa! half man half biscuit... reminds me of when me and dh first started going out together...

i thought the title of this thread was referring to that version!!!!

Jimjams · 05/10/2005 19:48

I did as well and have just trawled the web and come up with this.

Half Man Half Biscuit - Time Flies By

Time flies by when you're the driver of a train
speeding out of trumpton with a cargo of cocaine
i get high when i'm the pilot of a plane
touching down in Camberwick i'm stoned out of my brain

under bridges over bridges to our destination
careful with that spliff, Eugene, it causes condensation

every saturday I get the Chigley skins
and they always smash my windows 'cos the home side always wins
time flies by when you're a drive of a train
gonna get my syringes out and crank up once again

Will have to teach ds2 the non- HMHB version- he'll love it.

Witchycat · 05/10/2005 19:52

Yes, I thought the request was for the HMHB version too. Good to know there's a few of you with that album tucked away somewhere - was it 'Back in the DHSS ?' My dp actually still plays it quite often.

frannykenstein · 05/10/2005 20:09

I sh*gged someone out of HMHB.

Sadly I find it does not cause waves of envy and astonishment when I tell people (cause hardly anyone knows who they are anyway).

frannykenstein · 05/10/2005 20:20

You see? Nobody cares

Witchycat · 05/10/2005 20:21

Must admit Frannykenstein, I wouldn't recognise any of them, but it's still a claim to fame.

I never shagged anyone in the least bit famous!

frannykenstein · 05/10/2005 20:26

I don't think I would recognise him either

mrsmoons · 07/10/2005 12:44

thanks for sorting out the hmhb lyrics (i'm so old now, I couldn't remember them verbatim) ahh happy days. (me and my girl, sealclubbin' me and my girl, out on the ice!)
