or, you can pay for a domain and do your own

depends how conputer literate you are really! if you have a free one you'll get loads of advertising on it

Dont want to sound negative about the whole thing but I dont really get why people do this?

Why do people want to write online about their daily life, it kind of seems self obsessed, who reads it? My friend who suffers with compulsive disorders does it he has documented his life in scrap books since his teens. its quite scary when he showed me, everywhere he goes he collects an item related to it even the bloody bus ticket and then writes about it... yes I have seont many a drunken nights at his going "ok, show me then" he knows how i feel about it, we make a joke of it.

I dont know about it much so I am in no way attacking you and I am sure if you have your reasons for doing it.

Just took a look at your page and I am sorry for what you and your family are going through right now.

I wish your husband luck and happiness and he will be in my prayers for that call to come.

Lovecloud, i want to do it as a way of tracking our lives. i want to be able to sit down each night thatsoemthing major happens and just pour out what i want to, without clogging up mumsnet with hundreds of posts. i nsome ways i feel i rely on mumsnet for support a little too much at times, and i just want to break-away a little bit. And who knows, maybe someone searching for info on heart transplants/DCM will stumble acrross my blog and maybe i can help someone else out there.

um, what's a blog?

It's a bit like an online journal. Blog is a corruption of weblog. They've become very trendy of late.

There is a risk of a blog being somewhat self-indulgent - your computer is, after all, a captive audience. But readers of your blog can usually comment on it and tell you that you're talking crap, if they think you are.

People like Misdee, who actually have a story to tell, are far less likely to fall into the self-indulgence trap than many of the blog-writers I know though.

I think it's a great idea Misdee, and as you say it nmay well be read by others who expereince something similar in the future but it's also a worthwhile "story" and it will be altogether. Good Luck

I'm debating doing one on our house build, but I'm not sure about it.

i'll trey editing it later tonight to correct all my mistakes. i was very tired last night, but needed to get it all out and on IYKWIM.

i also know a lot of the other patients, and some f their stories affect us, do i pt them down with different names?
