Alemod virus

Does anyone know how to get rid of the alemod.e.dll virus? McAfee found it but can't delete it and most of the advice online doesn't seem to work or sounds dodgy.

Are you sure that's the right name? The Norton AV website can't find anything under that name.

when did you last update mcaffee? if not lately then do that and try again.

To remove it by hand you really need to alter the registry, which is something no-one should do unless they really know what they're doing.

I suspect it's a variation of the alemod virus (which appears to come with several different letters after thee alemod bit.)

just updated McAfee yesterday.

You could try running Panda active scan which is an online virus scanner and has removed stuff that's been missed/not solved by Norton before. Make sure you set it up to automatically disinfect.
