Feel like we're back to square one again.......

we're now living like we were back in August. We have to pay half the mortgage payment this month, the solicitor (for the business) has just sent us a bill for £350 for the 'completition' of the Trademark Registration (which we got the other day). The gas and electricity bills came yesterday - and were huge, despite a concerted effort to reduce how much we use. I still haven't found a job, and DH doesn't get his commision for the sale he made in August (so only half a month's work) until the end of October.

He went down to Bedford today to call into his branch of the bank (rather than the grumpy local branch) and they couldn't/wouldn't do anything to help.

Earlier this month it felt like things were really starting to 'pickup' and we were starting to get back on track, and now we're seem to be sinking even further. We hoped I would have found a job of "some" description by the end of this month to help cover the rest of the bills and food shoppingm but it's not happened. So for outgoings of nearly £2400 a month, we have an income of £1400.

right now it feels like it's never going to end, and DH is getting really stressed out about it again - and we're having little 'bickers' about stuff.

PLEASE someone tell me that we're going to get through this, and that I'm going to find a job.

yes applied for a Customer Service post (one of several) that was about 3 weeks ago - haven't heard anything from them though.

nutcackle · 06/10/2005 16:51

Oh, hope i hear soon, really need the money NOW lol.

Must try Boots and Wollies too.

Was the one you applied for temp or permanent ?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 06/10/2005 16:53

QoQ

Call them.

Proactive not Reactive

LadySherlockofLGJ · 06/10/2005 16:54

QoQ

Do you remember when you were depressed and I nagged you mecilessly to go to the GP's ??

Fancy some more of that nagging ??

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 16:54

LGJ - I know I'm desperate for a job but TBH it wasn't one I was particularly keen on - rather clean offices than do that and it did say on the form that they would only contact me if they wanted be to have an interview.......

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 16:55

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO please no more nagging

although having said that I really should go down and have a proper look through the job section in the paper I bought today, and get some pizza dough on the go - better not forget to feed my boys

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 20:33

why is life like a flipping yoyo????

DH has just called - not only has he had a cr*p day with "sales" (people who've decided to buy their TV licence instead of risking going to court) with only 2 (he only got 1 yesterday)

He's just been to Tesco (cash machine) to try and withdraw the £30 for me to do the shopping......and although the balance shows it as being available - when he tried ot take it out it said insufficient funds - he's going to come through town and try a few more cash machines ('ve had that happen a couple of times - 1 machine has 'refused' and the next has been ok) - but it's not looking good.

He sounds very down - expecting him home in about 1/2hr - what on earth can I do to cheer up him up (and no I'm not doing that ).

foundintranslation · 06/10/2005 20:39

maybe the money's not cleared yet?
I would offer to lend you some - but with us living in Germany it would prob take ages to get to your account (certainly not soon enough for you to do your shopping) and cost loads for you to get it back to us
Cheering up dh: Table with candles, nice song playing, nice hug?

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 20:42

money was there this morning.....he managed to make a few payments for bills.

candlelit table.......with pizza

actually he won't be impressed if he can't use the table - first thing he'll do is sort all his paperwork out on the dining room table and won't be impressed if he has to clear if first lol.

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 21:42

hey ho. Well no success balance is showing as £200 under the overdraft limit - but no money coming out the hole in the wall.

Right what can I do with the following ingredients, must be as filling as possible (ie no baked beans on toast type things as it would never satisfy my lot - DS1 had 3 slices of my homemade pizza tonight - DH is only having 2 - as usual - and I only had one!)

6 eggs
Potatoes (lots)
Carrots (a few)
Red Kidney Beans (they need soaking first though)
Spaghetti
chicken/beef stock
1 small swede
Onion (I've still got about 25p left which I found in my pocket today] - so I can go and buy one tomorrow.

Ideas on a postcard please

foundintranslation · 06/10/2005 23:01

qoq how long is that supposed to last you for? can you get some money from somewhere tomorrow?

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 23:02

how long is what supposed to last us?? Sorry lots of figures mentioned lol

foundintranslation · 06/10/2005 23:04

the food

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 23:07

oh the food - hmmm - started another thread in recipes - and reckon I can comfortably(!) make it llast 2 days, but I think I'll be grovelling to a couple of friends in the morning - see if any of them can lend us £10

I'm looking on the bright side - DS2 has nappies this time LOL.

foundintranslation · 06/10/2005 23:10

horrible situation. keep us updated!
maybe your csrd would be accepted when shopping (as opposed to at the cash machine)?

foundintranslation · 06/10/2005 23:11

card

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 23:13

don't know - and would rather not risk it - nothing worse than getting to the counter with a basket spilling over with Bettabuy (morrisons Value) stuff - only for the card to be refused

DH is going to call in the morning, and find out what the "exact" balance is......then if the money is there - I'll be shopping - ooooo £30 , and if it's not there.......I'll be talking nicely to some of my friends LOL.

HRHQoQ · 07/10/2005 16:41

oh the joys of life - DH managed to get £10 out today (went to the bank and they said he could get £30 - but £19 of it got 'lost' into the overdraft LOL).

Just been to Morrisons, got a few bits and pieces - can at least feed 'em all until into the beginning of next week.

My mum's probably going to be sending us £5 in DS1's (late) birthday card from my grandad - which she says we can use for what we want (read that as "need" LOL).

Having eggs, chips (homemade), baked beans and fried mushrooms for diiner
