I went over to the new house today and the site manager gave e free run of the house. I have spent all morning painting DD's bedroom. At 10am this morning it was magnolia. I have now left it pink And I mean pink! The paint DD had chosen looked quite pale in the pot, but on the walls it is a proper sugary marshmallow type pink - very Disney Sleeping Beauty type colour, for those in the know!

I haven't told 3yo DD that I have done it, and I am not going to. I am just going to let her find it on Friday.

She is under the impression that yes - she is getting a pink princess room, but mummy can't paint it until next week when we are in the house.

I just know how excited she is going to be when she finds it Really excited for her now

Trouble is I probably won't get any credit for it - it'll be the princess's fairies no doubt that did it when they heard her wish!

Sounds lovely Hula. My dd2 has a very pink princess room and she loves it

Hulababy · 28/09/2005 15:19

I am not the world's best painter but it looked pretty good when I left. I may have to touch up the odd bit maybe next week, when I have seen it dry. But I did keep checking everywhere for missed bits. We have stuff to go on her walls too - but that really does have to wait until next week!

Was so pleased site manager let me in. They are laying the caprets tomorrow (very very pale!) so nice to do it without having to worry about mess.

Told you it was pink

Her desk (made by her great grandad) is now pink too. It was purple this morning.

Looks great hulababy. My dd's room is that colour too with fairy tranfers all over one wall and I also painted the furniture (pink and white toy chest with daisys all over the lid). I have a very lovely and talented mum who also made beautiful curtains to match (pink and white gingham with embroidered daisies) and to top it all off a net canopy over the bed with pink hearts all over it. No chance of here being a tomboy eh

Hulababy · 28/09/2005 22:41

I have some princess stick ons and art squares, and some princess-type accessories. Also have a pink canopy for over top of her bed, and her newly matching pink desk! lots of pink - but she loves it!

Packing and travelling Don't envy you! Do wish you lots of luck though

We are about half packed, probably more. Tomorrow me and Dh are off, and DD is at nursery. We have a ball at 7pm though so have to be done by about 5ish.

Have to dismantle the beds too.

luckily we have no storage here so we only have to pack what you can actually see IYSWIM.

hula, it is gorgeous! She will love it.

White woodwork sets off strong colours so well - having good light helps too! (You are v lucky having an empty room to work with, saves a lot of shifting later )

Hulababy · 28/09/2005 22:59

Oh, it was great Jan. Never had that before. The site manager was so lovely,, as were all the builders. Even lent me ladders as I forgot mine. Made it much quicker and I didn't have to worry about spills, etc.

DD will love it, I'm sure

Hulababy · 29/09/2005 08:37

Thanks soapbox.

Move is tomorrow!!! Still doesn't feel real though. Have to spend today packing. Dh is off work too - he has just taken DD to nursery for the day. have a ball tonight, so have until about 5ish to finish. Have loads to do

So, after today - no more MN for a bit, until I back online. Eeek!

Very excited now though

SoupDragon · 29/09/2005 09:22

Hula, you have to give it a top coat of this on one wall. In "purple disco". It is fabulous! Glitter glaze from the Crayola paint range (which I've only ever ween in Focus Do It All)

DS1 has it over a deep blue in his room but it would look fab over pink

misdee · 29/09/2005 09:34

oh that is lovely. similar colourn to my dd's room. there is pink and very pale yellow. they have the Next bedding forest friends or something. its gorgeous. b and q do glitter paints as well, i want to add some to the pink bits as well. i tested a bit on one part and it is lovely.

your dd is gonna love it! remember to get her room set up 1st so she feels its home.

sweetkitty · 29/09/2005 10:13

We're painting DD's room this weekend.....PINK!

I want a pale pink too and she is having a bang on the door border and art squares, curtains, quilt and bean bag chair. Thought they don't look too baby and will probably do her till she's at least 3 (shes 14mo) when she'll be sick of pink. Her carpet is light biege and she has fitted mirrored wardrobes, furniture is antique pine it will be her first room I'm so excited!!!!

Hulababy · 29/09/2005 11:19

soupdragon = I love it!!! I may well have a look out for that. Finishing her room next week as I have week off and she is at nursery 2 days. Maybe for one of the walls = maybe the one wehre her dress up stuff will be!

misdee - I am hoping to be able to do that. Have instructed DH to make sure removal men but her stuff in van last, so they are first out. rest of her room not being finished to next week though.

sweetkitty - don't count on her getting bored of pink. DD is 3y 5m and still is pink obsessed. She always has been and it was the first colour she could recognise and say! She's just a little girly
