I have just spent the last hour looking for matching socks - where do they go?

Ah I have a (rather anal) solution for this metired.

I only buy (or allow to be bought) black socks and white socks. Always buy the same ones from M&S. So they always match!

The Twilight Zone or the Fifth Dimension.

The Land of the Unmatched Pair. I sometimes feel like I'm right there with them, those poor lonely socks in never-never land.

Seriously though, like Sambom, I buy all the same socks. I don't call it anal, I call it boring. I'd love to be the kind of person who wears bright red or green socks, but I'd just look crazy.

metired - I believe that they turn into wire coathangers.

i bought around 20 different pairs of socks for me and my girls the other week. now half of them are odd, all the laundry is done, have searched underbeds, sofas, everywhere for the missing socks. the washing machine must have eaten them.

Oh I wish I knew

janh · 27/08/2003 20:36

I have a boxful of them - some have been outgrown now but I just know that as soon as I chuck any out the missing one will appear.

I only wear white ones - the DDs wear anything (one black & one white would be fine with them). The males in the house don't have nearly such a problem - why is that?

DS2 takes his clothes off like a stripper - socks fly round the room and drop behind furniture. Try redecorating - you will find them all when you clear the room!

I always fasten my pairs together with pegs. i find the time spent doing this outweighs the time spent looking for the other pair once they're all washed. A revolution in laundry success in our house

misdee · 27/08/2003 20:40

but my pegs always go missing as well

tinyfeet · 27/08/2003 20:40

Oh my God, Monkey. I don't know what to say! Pegs!
