I've just looked at it and did a free seach fine. Have then registered and know when i look at it it throws up a security alert saying that the sites security certificate has either expired or is not yet valid, which i believe means that any info you put on there can be gaurenteed secure. Is my thinking right? And if so does that mean my credit card details are vunerable? And if that's the case what should I do?????

dp says that your info will still ALL be secure, but it may mean that the company is in trouble (can't pay to renew the certificate etc)

starlover · 24/09/2005 20:01

oh and check that the name on the certificate matches the website!

Whizzz · 24/09/2005 20:02

I looked & did the free search thing but a map flashed up &then went before I could look at anything - so I gave up.
The security Cert. thing does sound a bit iffy but I'm not techo. Maybe an email to MN HQ ?

chicagomum · 24/09/2005 22:05

thanks all, the certificate name does match the page name (thats what is says on the security alert) I've sent a message to MN HQ to alert them too. Do you think I ought to do any thing else?

dp said it's basically like your car tax running out. your car still works, but you shouldn't really be driving it without it!

it is still secure, and encrypted but they haven't paid to renew it yet for some reason

thanks starlover, I guess I'll just keep an eye on my account then (should I let my bank know or am I just being paranoid?)

have you e-mailed the site?

i think you should be fine, but if it'll put your mind at rest then give the bank a ring!

thanks again starlover. I loked at it because we are deperately trying to sort out childcare as our original plans fell through, so are checking all avenues. Haven't told dh as he is always telling me to be careful on these sites etc and about paying for things using cards on unknown sites etc. etc. but I thought this one would be ok as it was advertised on mumsnet (not that i'm saying they are in anyway responsible). When you say email the site do you mean mumsnet or the sharingcare one?

sharingcare

chicagomum · 24/09/2005 22:39

I've sent sharingcare a message now, in addition I tried again to look at it and now the security alert doesn't come up but when I try and log in (although I definately registered earlier today and it accepted my payment) it says it doesn't have my email address on its data base

ooh how strange! i'm sure all will be ok though! see what they say if/when they get back to you!

chicagomum · 24/09/2005 22:52

My advert looking for child care is on there though so i must have registered ok? I wish I was more computer literate so I'd have more of a clue what was going on. Guess no-one will get back to me until monday now though.
