There's always a million and one things I want to learn about or learn to do, and I always learn best when it's self taught.

So thought it'd be good to have a thread for the autodidact's amongst us, to keep track of our progress and help each other out.

Currently learning;

  • German
  • Sign language
  • Web programming
  • Knitting

How about you? How is it going?

My interests are mostly around science, but also a bit of history. I tend to meander through whatever seems interesting at the time. I've bought quite a number of courses from a US company that produces sets of lectures mostly on DVD but sometimes also as audio downloads. They've now got a UK base. One of the things that I like about them is that the graphics aren't snazzy CGI stuff, because although graphs and suchlike are necessary, I don't need the Hollywood approach that's getting more the norm in TV documentaries these days.

I've just started two new ones:

Major Transitions in Evolution

and

Chemistry - which is designed for High School students, but that's challenging for me. Grin
