I was wondering which to go to...

Thought I would check out the bargains...

But my time is limited so wanted to only go to one first...

Which should you all recommend and why?

Thanks in advance!

Lidl - don't know why, just prefer it.

TheChewyToffeeMum · 28/11/2010 18:50

Ha ha - I prefer Aldi - less shouty neon price signs.

Hassledge · 28/11/2010 18:51

I prefer Aldi :o. Better coffee and pasta.

I'm a Lidl regular but have only been to Aldi a handful of times. I get the impression that Lidl's cheaper but Aldi has a wider range and is a bit more tuned into UK consumers.

I could be horribly wrong though, that's just my personal feel. Smile

(Are you watching Harry Hill btw?!)

Lidl has vry good fruit and veg. I've only been to Aldi once and everything I wanted they either didn't sell or was cheaper at sainsburys. I had to climb over a fence to get out which was offputting.

Lidl I think. Aldi I only go to when then have their special things on, like running gear.

Lidl

Didldidi - better layout for starters, and there's a lovely silver fox working on the till who I think is French.

Aldi

Lidl would totally beat Aldi in a fight. Doesn't make me want to shop there though.

Ilythia · 28/11/2010 19:29

Aldi, our lidl seems awfully cramped, everything seems a bit rammed in, but aldi has become more like a 'normal' supermarket.
Helps that I can almost see aldi from my house thoughGrin

Goober · 28/11/2010 19:34

Lidl.

wubblybubbly · 28/11/2010 19:40

Lidl.

Everytime I've been to Aldi they've had none of their advertised stuff in.

earlyriser · 28/11/2010 19:41

I love having a rake round all the random items weekly bargains in Lidl! They do surprisingly good waterproof suits and winter boots for children very cheap (if you manage to get them before they magically disappear again!)

Also lovely halva, turkish delight and yummy yummy chocolate stuff (much of which is vegan too).

Never been to Aldi

kreecherlivesupstairs · 30/11/2010 08:49

Lidl. They have a lot of 'normal' branded stuff in. Aldi does have some great special offers, but they tend to get bought really quickly. As I don't read Dutch, I don't understand the advertising paper that comes at random times showing a list of all the specials for a particular day.

orienteerer · 30/11/2010 18:46

I'm surprised Lidl seems to be getting the vote. I find Lidl small & squashed with narrow aisles (maybe that's just my local one). In comparison Aldi is much larger & more spacious and certainly better "own" brand stuff. Just my opinionGrin.

Aldi, has lovely plain choc-covered caramels, if that helps, and they have things like mangoes at only ?1.49, opposed to about ?2 in the cheapest supermarket.
