leicestershire mnetters, relocation advice needed

we have to relocate from lancashire to leicestershire very soon, dh new job is in loughborough. we know the area a bit as both went to uni in leicester, not sure about moving to loughborough itself and am currently thinking of areas like :

melton mowbray
oakham
uppingham
ashby de la zouch, because its nearer the motorway

where else is nice to live?

I like Loughborough town centre for shopping etc but I wouldn't live there either - seems full of student houses.

Quorn's lovely - bit pricey though. Mountsorrel, Rothley?

I'm in a village near Melton Mowbray & its lovely.Melton still has a cattle market & farmers market,but isn't the sort of place for designer shops ect.I'm not too sure where the 'good' areas of town are.The surrounding villages are all pretty good,but expensive.

Agree with Bamboo about Loughborough -too many students.Good shops & market though.

Oakham & Uppingham are lovely little towns-'posher' than Melton,hence pricier.

I know nothing about Ashby De La Zouch though.

How far from the motorway do you need to be? What sort of price range are you thinking of? If you can let me know,I can see what I can find out for you.

DH moved down here from Chorley 10 years ago & said he'd never go back now-the only thing he misses are the pies!
